In the Africa Fashion Industry, we are streamlined into focusing on production, sales, styling, designing. All these are very vital but we need to consider how the industry can move from a million to a billion.  Fashion is all encompassing, it includes footwears, jewleries, textile, handbags, cosmetics and clothing industry. IG @tomiscolourpavilon Alot of Africa Countries are on the pedestal of primarily importing from the developed countries . Export Trade is very vital for the growth of the Africa Fashion Industry.  I definitely love the whole sew and fit idea, when I say sew and fit, i mean clothes or items which are made to suit a particular individual, we need to think Beyond that level, I am sure a lot of individuals have become millionaires as a result of working on sew and fit. That's fine. But why would you decide to settle for less? The Fashion Industry is an industry with great potentials,  It is essential that this potentials are maximize...

The Fashion Business Contracts...

The contract saga between the Nigerian  G-Worldwide Entertainment Company and Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe also know as Kiss Daniel has been all over the internet for weeks now.  If you are not aware of the story, I will be dropping the summarised coded gist. Based on Available media reports, the relevant facts are that  Kiss Daniel entered into a seven years agreement with the G-world-wide entertainment company,  but then a few weeks ago- whilst the contract still existed- he unilaterally announced the termination of the agreement.   Moral lesson-  Before signing any contract make sure you read and understand the terms and conditions. I will like to drop the whole story but this post is primarily for fashion businesses. Behind the scene of every fashion business, every fashion show, reams of legal contracts bind together designers, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, models, photographers, make up artists, the list is endless. The Future of Africa Fashion- ERADICATING COUNTERFEIT FASHION

I am so excited to start the   AFL end of the year series, the series is called The Future of Africa Fashion series. While studying on a fateful day, I thought to myself the Africa Fashion Industry has every capacity to grow and it can contribute to the economic growth of countries in Africa. The Fashion Industry is embedded with great potentials but there are some aspects which need to be eradicated or curbed and some aspects which need to be developed. The Future of Africa Fashion Series primarily focuses on the development of the Africa Fashion industry. The focal point of this post is the eradication of counterfeit fashion/counterfeiting. Counterfeit fashion refers to fake clothing, accessory, footwear, handbags, cosmetics of major brands. Counterfeiting is ultimately an infringement of the legal rights of an owner of an intellectual property. Stealing of original ideas is the worst form of theft in the fashion industry. It is a common attitude for law enforcement a...

Inspiration versus Imitation

In the past few days, a particular design has been trending on the internet thanks to the creative work of a Nigerian Designer "Ugomonye".  When I saw the piece which was worn by a Nigerian Celebrity, Ebuka to the BAAD wedding, I was happy that there was a creative mind who could come up with such an idea. The designer launched the design at the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2017. It has been barely five days since the BAAD wedding and the imitators are already working on the design. If as a designer, you are a pro imitator, the least you can do is acknowledge the brand whose work you have imitated. Fashion relies primarily on inspiration. It is important that I differentiate Imitation from Inspiration. A lot of individuals copy and say it was inspired, nope it is better you use the word imitated. Imitation is the production of identical copies of the substantial copying of another's artistic work. Imitation is the replication of the pattern, cut, c...
